CALTRAIN MARIN & NAPOLEAN STREET BRIDGE REPLACEMENTS

Project Description

The Marin Street and Napoleon Street bridges are located under the I-280 freeway near the base of Islais Creek, in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood. The Napoleon St. Bridge needs to be fully replaced for safety and structural integrity purposes, whereas minor safety improvements will be made to the Marin St. Bridge. Additional track work may also need to be added from Cesar Chavez to Jerrold Street.

Scope of Services

RSE designed the Napoleon Street bridge replacement with a single span, precast box girder superstructure. In addition to minor improvement designs made to the Marin Street bridge, RSE also designed track alignment improvements, provided surveying and mapping services, and ROW engineering within the rail corridor from Cesar Chavez to Jerold Street. Utility services were also coordinated between Caltrans and the major utility companies.

Construction staging plans were developed by RSE to minimize disruptions to rail operations.
